This Month in Classic Cars | Gallen Insurance

classic car news for April 2014. Gallen Insurance Reading, PAApril is finally here. The month in which we all take the covers off our beloved classic cars and start enjoying the spring/summer driving season. It’s also the perfect time to get into classic car collecting, as well, but starting a hobby like classic car collecting can seem intimidating and expensive to newcomers. Well, you may not want to start out with a 1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe but there are more affordable options, especially for those looking for a hands-on project.
This collector was looking for a fun summer sports car and found that this $1600 1974 Triumph Spitfire 1500 was the perfect car to start his collection.
But sometimes a rare treasure falls into your lap. Retired ironworker, Larry Brown, used to drive around in a 20 year old Ford pickup until his passing in September of 2013. As it turns out, Larry had purchased a new 1969 Ford Shelby GT500 from  Eger dealership in McKeesport for $5200. It was discovered in his garage after his death with less than 8000 miles and all original parts. It’s expected to sell at auction in Centre County for $130,000.
Make sure to check back next month for more information on a great Classic Car Event at Denver Memorial Park.
