This weeksnowmobile, January 13th-19th, is International Snowmobile Safety Awareness week and snowmobiling is big business here in the US. Did you know there are 1.4 million registered snowmobiles in the US alone? In 2011 there were 37,741 registered right here in PA. The snowmobiling industry maintains over 100,000 full time jobs for US employees and has a positive economic impact of $23 billion per year!

Whether you are an avid rider or whether you are thinking of entering the sport, here are some safety tips from the International Snowmobile Manufacturer’s Association:
• Never consume alcohol or drug before snowmobiling
• Become familiar with the snowmobile you ride
• Operate at safe & reasonable speeds
• Use extra caution at night
• Keep your equipment maintained
• Always wear a helmet & protective clothing.
Additionally, protect your safety and your assets by properly insuring your snowmobile.
The typical homeowner’s insurance policy may not cover a snowmobile as it is considered a recreational vehicle & if often used or operated off of the homeowner’s premises
Did you know if you ride your snowmobile off your property is must be registered and therefore must be insured?
• All household members who operate the snowmobile need to be listed on the policy. There usually is no minimum age requirement
• Additional coverage available include but not limited to:
Coverage for all of US & Canada,
Transport Trailer Coverage
Snowmobile Accessory Coverage
